New Camera!!!
Since about November we have been researching cameras. The camera we have is the one I got almost 5 years ago and it is about to die! On Sunday, we headed to Best Buy to pick our new camera out (don't worry, I only went to Best Buy and then came home!). Going into it we thought we wanted an SLR camera (think Canon Rebel), but once we got there and started comparing our research to the actual cameras and talking to the salesperson a tad, we discovered that we first, actually need a new digital camera, and then eventually (like 2-3 years) we could also purchases a SLR. The SLR's are nice, but they are big! If we got the SLR, we would still need a smaller camera to take places that you wouldn't want to bring an expensive and bulky camera to! Also the SLR was WAY advanced! I also didn't like the fact that you could only use the LCD screen for one view. All the other views, you had to use the little view finder. The salesperson thought we were nuts for even looking at SLR's considering the reason we need a new camera is for the baby. He explained the the "quality" of the picture isn't going to be any different. The SLR camera just does more advanced/professional things that most digital camera's do not. Mostly having to do with adjusting the lens and stuff we know nothing about! He recommended that we purchase that when our child becomes more active and then the camera will come in handy! It is a ton better for capturing "motion" shots (ie. sports/recreational type stuff). So we went with a more advanced digital camera with a super zoom and then in a couple years, that will become our backup and we will get the SLR. I was playing around with the camera and it has some really neat features that I didn't even know about! Also, by waiting to purchase a SLR, it actually benefits us because camera's change so much year to year that the SLR we buy today, won't nearly be as good as the one we buy in a couple years! SLR's are great, but it would get very annoying to have to lug the big thing everywhere (especially with a newborn!)!!! Here is a picture of our new camera. It is the Sony Cybershot DSC-H50.
